Zero plastics. Zero fuss: That's how Kinara Ceramics' pieces travel.

If there was one thing I was clear about when I swapped corporate meeting rooms and endless PowerPoints for the mud and workshop in Seville, it was that at Kinara, things would be done right from the very first minute. And that includes every last piece of cardboard that leaves the door.

Because there's no point spending hours in the workshop pampering every curve of a Peony Tray or an oil cruet if you then put the piece in a box full of hideous bubble wrap.

Here, plastic is neither present nor expected. Today, I'm opening the workshop doors to tell you how we package each order so that your pieces travel first class, bomb-proof protected, and respecting the planet.

1. The 3D Armor: Honeycomb Paper + Jute Cord 

To wrap the piece directly, we don't use tape or plastic. We use honeycomb paper.

At first glance, it looks like normal kraft paper, but when stretched and wrapped around the piece, its hexagonal cells open up and create a soft, three-dimensional volume that protects the enamel, edges, and handles against any direct impact. We wrap it 3 to 4 times tightly to leave the piece "armored."

And to close it without covering the piece with adhesive tape? We use a natural jute cord. It holds firm, doesn't come undone during transit, doesn't shed lint, and gives that *craft* and artisanal finish that is a pleasure to see as soon as you open the box.

2. The Workshop Mattress: Vegetable Starch "Pellets" 

Here comes the great secret of the filling. To prevent the piece from bouncing around inside the Kraft cardboard box, we use what I call "the workshop pellets" (Pelaspan® Bio).

At first glance, they look like the typical white polystyrene foam peanuts, but not at all. They are made of 100% pure corn starch. Their "S" shape makes them hook together inside the box, creating a network of micro-mattresses that absorb the braking and bumps of the delivery truck. The piece literally floats in the air.

3. What do you do with the packaging when the package arrives home? 

The best thing about this packaging is not only how it protects during shipping, but also what you can do with it when you open your order:

• The water trick: If you take "the pellets" and put them under the tap with warm water, you'll see how they dissolve and completely disappear in 3 seconds. Zero waste, zero trash in the plastic bin.
• A gift for your plants: Since it's pure organic plant matter, you can put the pellets directly into the soil of your pots or garden. When watered, they biodegrade completely and serve as a natural fertilizer to enrich the soil.

4. The Acid Test: The Shake Test 

Before closing the box flaps, we always do the ultimate test in the workshop: the Shake Test.

We close the box and shake it vigorously. If not the slightest movement is heard or felt inside, the package is ready to go. If the piece "dances," we open it and adjust more vegetable filling until it is compact.
